Who actually needs the embassy route?
Travellers applying for student, diplomatic or official visas, plus the small list of nationalities not eligible for the eVisa. Everyone else — tourist or business — can use the eVisa.
Is the eVisa officially recognised at the border?
Yes. The eVisa is the same legal travel authorisation as a consulate-issued visa — it is just delivered electronically. Cambodian immigration accepts it at all three international airports and the busiest land crossings.
Can I get a Cambodia visa at the embassy in Australia?
Yes, the embassy in Canberra still issues visas, but for tourist and business classes you will save a week and the travel cost by using the eVisa instead.
Does the embassy route give a longer stay?
No. The standard tourist visa is 30 days whether issued via eVisa or embassy. Business visas can be extended inside Cambodia regardless of which route issued the original visa.
What if my eVisa application is refused?
Refusals are rare. If your specific case is one of the unusual ones — wrong passport class, certain dual nationals, complex history — our team will tell you before charging and point you to the right embassy route.
Can I use the embassy if my eVisa has not arrived in time?
Probably too late — the embassy route is slower than the eVisa, not faster. If your eVisa is delayed, contact our 24/7 support and we will chase the approval, not the embassy.
