Cambodia Visa Types FAQ — Tourist vs Business eVisa
Cambodia offers two main eVisa categories: the Tourist eVisa (Type T) at $80 for leisure and family visits, and the Business eVisa (Type E) at $90 for meetings, conferences, and paid work. Here is how to choose.
ما الفرق بين تأشيرة السياحة وتأشيرة الأعمال في كمبوديا؟
The Cambodia tourist eVisa (Type T, $80) is for sightseeing, leisure, and family visits. The business eVisa (Type E, $90) covers meetings, conferences, and paid work. Both are single-entry, 30-day stays — but only Type E is extendable inside Cambodia.
Which Cambodia visa should I choose: tourist or business?
Choose tourist if your trip is purely leisure, sightseeing, or visiting friends and family. Choose business if you are attending any meeting, conference, or doing paid work — even a single meeting requires Type E by Cambodian immigration law.
Can I use a Cambodia tourist visa for business?
No. Using a Cambodia tourist visa for any business activity — meetings, conferences, employment — violates Cambodian immigration law and may result in deportation, fines, or future entry bans. When in doubt, choose the business eVisa.
Is a Cambodia business eVisa harder to get than a tourist one?
No. The application process, documents required, and processing time are identical. The business eVisa simply costs $10 more and gives you extension options inside Cambodia that the tourist visa does not.
Can a Cambodia business eVisa be extended?
Yes. The Cambodia business eVisa (Type E) is the only category convertible to long-stay visas inside Cambodia — 1, 3, 6, and 12-month extensions are available at local immigration offices. Tourist eVisas extend by only 30 more days.
Both tourist and business eVisas are valid for 3 months from the date of issue. You must enter Cambodia within those 3 months. Once you enter, you may stay up to 30 days on a single entry.
Is the Cambodia eVisa single or multiple entry?
The standard Cambodia eVisa — both tourist (Type T) and business (Type E) — is single-entry. If you leave Cambodia, you need a new visa to re-enter. Multiple-entry options exist only via the embassy route, not online.
How long can I stay in Cambodia on an eVisa?
Up to 30 days on a single entry, counted from your arrival date. Day of arrival counts as day 1. Overstaying triggers a $10/day fine and may affect future entries.
Are there other Cambodia visa types besides tourist and business?
Yes — but only Type T (tourist) and Type E (business) are issued as eVisas online. Other categories (diplomatic, official, courtesy, K-visa for ethnic Khmers) are embassy-issued only and not available through our service.
Can I switch from a Cambodia tourist visa to a business visa inside Cambodia?
No. You cannot upgrade or convert a tourist eVisa to a business eVisa from inside Cambodia. You must leave, apply for the business eVisa, and re-enter. Plan ahead if you anticipate any business activity.
Which Cambodia visa do digital nomads need?
Digital nomads doing remote work for foreign clients typically use the business eVisa (Type E), which can be extended inside Cambodia into 6 or 12-month renewable stays — the path most long-stay nomads take in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.
What is a Cambodia K-visa?
The K-visa is a special category for ethnic Khmers holding foreign passports — typically Cambodian diaspora. It is embassy-issued only and offers indefinite renewals. It is NOT available as an eVisa online.
Is there a Cambodia retirement visa?
Cambodia has no dedicated retirement visa. Most retirees use the business eVisa (Type E) extended into a 12-month renewable Type ER (Retirement) extension inside Cambodia, available to over-55s with proof of pension.
Do journalists need a special Cambodia visa?
Working journalists technically require a media visa from the Cambodian Ministry of Information, arranged via embassy. Most short-trip journalists travel on a business eVisa (Type E) — but pre-clear your assignment with the Cambodian embassy to be safe.
Which Cambodia visa is right for a wedding or family event?
A wedding, family visit, or attending a ceremony is a tourist activity — use the Cambodia tourist eVisa (Type T). The business eVisa is only required if you are also doing paid work or formal business while in Cambodia.
