The fix: submit a fresh, corrected card

Because there is no dependable self-service edit on a card you have already submitted, the reliable fix for a high-stakes error is to fill out a new card with the corrected details and submit it. This is lighter than it sounds — the card is only 14 fields and you already have everything in front of you. The new card generates its own confirmation and QR code, and that is the one you carry to the kiosk. Set the old screenshot aside so you do not present it by reflex, and keep a single clean copy of the corrected card on your phone, ideally with a printout.

Timing is on your side. The card has to be filed inside the 7 days before you arrive, and as long as you are still in that window you can lodge a fresh corrected card without any trouble. The only real pressure is if you submitted very early and the window has not opened yet — in which case wait until you are inside the 7 days, then file the correct card once.

Fixing the four mistakes US travelers make most

Four errors account for almost every flagged US-filed card. Here is what each one looks like and how to make it right, in order of how often we see it.

The arrival date in the wrong format

This is the runaway leader. The form reads day-month-year in places, and Americans default to month-day-year out of habit, so 06/07 typed as "July 6th" gets read as June 7th and your arrival date lands a month off. The fix is mechanical: file a corrected card, and this time use the date picker rather than free-typing the slashes, then sanity-check the result against your flight confirmation. If the screen shows a different day than your ticket, you are still in the trap — adjust before you submit.

The wrong flight number

The second classic is entering the long-haul flight out of the United States instead of the final leg that actually lands in Cambodia. If you fly Los Angeles to Seoul to Phnom Penh, the flight number on the card is the Seoul-to-Phnom-Penh hop, not the LAX-to-Seoul one. Pull your booking, find the leg whose destination is your Cambodian airport, and resubmit with that flight number — this is the field Immigration cross-checks against the manifest.

A name that does not match the passport

A dropped middle name, a nickname instead of the legal first name, or a married name that is not on the passport yet — any of these creates a mismatch between the card, your eVisa, and the document you hand over. Resubmit with your name exactly as printed on your US passport bio page, character for character, including the middle name if it is there. A transposed passport number

A single swapped or mistyped character in the passport number is easy to do and easy to miss. Open your passport to the bio page, read the number digit by digit, and resubmit. This one is quick to verify and quick to fix, but because the number is matched against your eVisa and the passport itself, it is firmly in the fix-it column.

If you only catch it at the airport

Say you do not notice the mistake until you are already at the gate, or worse, standing at the arrivals kiosk in Cambodia. It is not a disaster, but it is the version of this problem you most want to avoid, because you are now solving it under time pressure with airport Wi-Fi.
