Cambodia eVisa via PayPal, Apple Pay & Google Pay: 2026 Australian Guide
Apple Pay on iPhone, Google Pay on Android, PayPal on the web — all three are accepted at our Cambodia eVisa checkout alongside Visa, Mastercard and AmEx. Wallet pay often clears when a raw card entry was declined, because it bypasses the Aussie bank's first-look fraud filter. Same $80 USD (~$122 AUD) all-in. Here is the Australian playbook.

Can Australians use PayPal, Apple Pay, or Google Pay for the Cambodia eVisa?
Yes — all three are accepted alongside Visa, Mastercard, AmEx. Apple Pay (iOS) and Google Pay (Android) often clear faster than direct card entry because they bypass the Aussie bank's first-look fraud filter. PayPal is the safest fallback if both cards and wallet pay fail — it can pull from a different funding source. Same $80 USD (~$122 AUD) all-in Tourist or $90 USD (~$137 AUD) Business. No surcharge from us for any payment method. The AUD equivalent is shown at checkout and on your statement.

Why wallet pay often clears when your raw card entry was declined
Yes. Apple Pay is one of the accepted payment methods at our Cambodia eVisa checkout, alongside Google Pay, PayPal, Visa, Mastercard and AmEx. It works on iPhone, iPad and Mac with Touch ID or Face ID, and the card has to be added to your Wallet app first (a one-off three-minute setup). The price is the same $80 USD (~$122 AUD) Tourist or $90 USD (~$137 AUD) Business, the timeline is the same 3 business days, and the AUD equivalent is shown at checkout and on your statement.
Does Google Pay work for the Cambodia eVisa?
Yes. Google Pay is accepted at our checkout for Android phones and for Chrome desktop with a Google account. The setup runs through the Google Wallet app on Android — add a card, complete the bank's SMS verification, and the card is ready. Older Android builds (Android 9 and below) sometimes need a Google Wallet update before the checkout button renders correctly; if the button does not appear, update the app first and retry.
Is PayPal accepted for the Cambodia eVisa?
Yes — PayPal is one of the accepted payment methods at our checkout, and it is the universal fallback that works on every device and every Aussie issuer. You log in to PayPal through a popup at our checkout, choose your funding source (AUD balance, linked Aussie bank, or saved card), and confirm. PayPal applies its own FX margin (~3-4%) on USD-to-AUD conversion, slightly higher than a typical card FX fee, unless you pre-load an AUD balance into your PayPal account first.
Why does Apple Pay clear when my Visa was declined?
Tokenisation. When you type a 16-digit Visa number into a foreign merchant's checkout, your bank sees a Card-Not-Present (CNP) transaction at an international merchant — the highest-fraud-loss channel in Aussie issuer data, and the fraud scoring is tuned conservatively. When you tap Apple Pay, the same charge comes through with a tokenisation flag, device authentication (Face ID or Touch ID), and a different merchant-of-record signature. That pattern scores statistically lower-risk in the bank's training data, and the same charge that was declined on raw card entry clears via Apple Pay. Google Pay works the same way on Android.
Does PayPal charge an extra fee for the Cambodia eVisa?
PayPal does not charge a fee on the transaction itself — the visa price is the same $80 USD or $90 USD whether you pay via PayPal or card. PayPal does apply its own FX margin on USD-to-AUD conversion if PayPal handles the conversion, sitting at around 3-4%, which is slightly higher than a typical Aussie card FX fee of 1.5-3%. If you pre-load an AUD balance into your PayPal account (transfer from your bank, takes 30 seconds), PayPal converts at its rate with no margin on top, which is the cleanest path for FX cost.

Putting it together — wallet pay as the Aussie default
Can I use a PayPal balance instead of a card?
Yes — and it is often the smartest path for Aussies who use PayPal regularly. Transfer AUD from your bank account into your PayPal balance before checkout (takes about 30 seconds), then at our Cambodia eVisa checkout select PayPal, log in, and choose the AUD balance as your funding source. PayPal converts USD to AUD at PayPal's day rate with no FX margin on top, which often lands cheaper than a credit card with a 3% FX surcharge. The balance can also be funded by friends or family if someone else is paying.
What if I'm not set up for Apple Pay?
Setup takes about three minutes once. Open the Wallet app on your iPhone, tap the plus icon in the top-right corner, choose Debit or Credit Card, point the camera at your physical card to capture the number (or type it manually), and complete your bank's SMS verification. Once the card shows as Activated in Wallet, the Apple Pay button appears automatically at our Cambodia eVisa checkout in Safari. If you do not want to set up Apple Pay, Google Pay (on Android), PayPal, or direct card entry all still work fine — there is no payment path that requires Apple Pay specifically.
Is the FX rate different on PayPal vs my Aussie bank?
Yes, technically — PayPal's day rate, your bank's day rate, and the indicative rate shown on our checkout are all within about 0.5% of each other on a normal day, but they are three different rates set by three different processors. PayPal also adds its own FX margin (~3-4%) on top of its day rate if PayPal handles the conversion. If you compare two receipts side by side — one paid via Apple Pay (which inherits your card's FX) and one via PayPal — the AUD figure can differ by $1-2 even though the USD price was identical $80. Both are correct; the conversion path was different. The Reserve Bank of Australia daily reference rate is the neutral benchmark for what is fair.
