The Tourist eVisa is the right choice for most Surinamese travellers visiting Cambodia. It covers sightseeing in Siem Reap, beach time in the Koh Rong islands, visiting Angkor Wat, and staying with family or friends — anything that isn't paid work or formal business activity.
The approved Cambodia e-Visa entry points cover every international airport and the major land borders — except where noted below.
Surinamese visitors, used to the Central Suriname Nature Reserve, the Saramacca interior and the Dutch-colonial heart of Paramaribo, find Cambodia an unusually rich layered destination: the colonial-era architecture along the riverfront in Phnom Penh and Battambang carries a familiar Dutch-Indonesian register, and the temple complex at Angkor Wat rewards travellers who already know how to read jungle-encroachment ecology from Brokopondo or the Marowijne. Most Surinamese travellers anchor in Siem Reap for Angkor Wat, Bayon and Ta Prohm, then move to Phnom Penh for the Royal Palace, the National Museum and Tuol Sleng. The 30-day Type T stay and 90-day visa validity from issue give plenty of room to extend with Sihanoukville and Koh Rong, or onward into Vietnam and Thailand under a wider ASEAN loop on the way home.
Your Cambodia eVisa covers all regions — no internal visa or border crossing required once you're inside the country.
Practical advice from travellers who've been — currency, connectivity, weather, and the eVisa print rule that catches everyone out at Cambodian immigration.
US dollars are accepted almost everywhere alongside Cambodian Riel. You do not need to exchange currency before flying — small change comes back in Riel.
November to April (dry season). May to October brings monsoon rains — southern coastal regions are most affected. November to February is the sweet spot for Angkor Wat.
Buy a local SIM at Phnom Penh or Siem Reap airport ($2–3 USD). Most foreign phones work on GSM. Metfone and Smart are the recommended carriers — both have airport kiosks.
No mandatory vaccinations. Hepatitis A and Typhoid are commonly recommended. Drink bottled water only — even in major hotels. Carry mosquito repellent for evening visits to temples.
Print 2 copies of your approved eVisa on A4 paper. Cambodian immigration does NOT accept mobile screenshots. We email PDF-ready files with print instructions.

The complete picture of the Cambodia tourist visa and Cambodia e-Visa for Surinamese citizens: fees, processing time, requirements, and what actually happens at the border.
Yes, Surinamese passport holders need a Cambodia visa, and the electronic visa is the only practical route from Paramaribo, Nieuw Nickerie or any of the coastal towns. Cambodia keeps no diplomatic post anywhere in Suriname, so the alternative would mean couriering a Surinamese passport to the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Washington DC, slow and risky. The Cambodia online visa removes that step. Most Surinamese travellers — reflecting Suriname's Dutch heritage on the Caribbean coast of South America — connect through Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) on KLM, then onward to Bangkok, Singapore or Kuala Lumpur and into Phnom Penh; alternatively, regional travellers connect through Trinidad (POS) on Caribbean Airlines. The Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs approves the electronic visa in 3 business days, and the QR code PDF is accepted at Phnom Penh, Siem Reap-Angkor and Sihanoukville airports plus every major land border.
Cambodia tourist visa $80, Cambodia business visa $90 — both prices are all-inclusive. Upload your passport bio page and a photo, fill in a few details, and your electronic visa lands in your inbox before you fly.
