Do Australians Need the Cambodia e-Arrival Card? Yes, and Here Is Why
Australians flying into Cambodia need the e-Arrival Card on every trip, on top of their visa. Here is the straight answer, who it covers, when to file it from Australia and the few situations where the rules are less clear.
Do Australians need the Cambodia e-Arrival Card?
Yes. Every Australian flying into Cambodia must file a Cambodia e-Arrival Card in the 7 days before landing, even with a visa already approved. It is a separate arrival declaration, not a visa, so Australians need both. Each traveller, children included, files their own card and shows its QR code at Immigration.
主なポイント
- Yes: every Australian flying into Cambodia needs a Cambodia e-Arrival Card, whatever visa they hold.
- The e-Arrival Card is not a visa. Australians need a Cambodia visa as well, so most trips need both.
- It can only be filed in the 7 days before you land, and the window counts by the date in Cambodia, not in Australia.
- Every traveller files their own card on their own passport, children included.
- The card is built for air arrivals at KTI, SAI and KOS; if you are entering by land or sea, check the process for your crossing before you go.
The short answer for Australians
Yes, you need it. If you hold an Australian passport and you are flying into Cambodia, you need a Cambodia e-Arrival Card for that trip. It does not matter whether you are going for a fortnight at Angkor, a week of meetings in Phnom Penh or a stopover on a longer South-East Asia loop. It does not matter whether your visa is a Tourist eVisa, a Business eVisa or a visa issued on arrival. The card is filed by every traveller, and Australians are no exception.
The e-Arrival Card is Cambodia’s online arrival declaration. In 2024 it replaced the three paper forms travellers used to fill in on the plane or in the arrivals hall: the immigration arrival card, the health form and the customs declaration. Instead of three bits of paper, you now complete one online form before you fly and receive a QR code that Immigration scans when you land.
Which Australians need one
The rule is simple: if you are on the flight and you are entering Cambodia, you file a card. These are the situations Australian travellers ask us about most often.
- Holidaymakers on a Tourist eVisa: yes, you need the card as well as the visa.
- Business travellers on a Business eVisa: yes, the card is the same whatever the purpose of your trip.
- Travellers planning a visa on arrival: yes, the card is still filed before you fly.
- Repeat visitors: yes, each card is filed for one arrival date and one flight, so every new trip to Cambodia needs a fresh card.
- Dual citizens: yes, and the card must be filed on the passport you will hand to the officer. If that is your Australian passport, your visa should be on the same passport.
- Children and babies: yes. Every traveller in a party files their own card on their own passport.
On children, Cambodia does not publish a separate rule for infants. Our practice is clear, though: we file a card for every traveller in a party, babies included, because each one travels on their own passport. A family of four flying from Melbourne files four cards, not one.

The e-Arrival Card is not your visa
This is the point that trips up Australians most. Because the e-Arrival Card is an online form with a QR code, it looks a lot like an electronic visa. It is not one. It gives you no permission to enter Cambodia, and having one does not replace the visa that Australian passport holders need.
Australians need a Cambodia visa for every visit. The eVisa is the route most Australians use: a Tourist eVisa allows a stay of up to 30 days, the visa is valid for 90 days from issue, and approval takes 3–5 days. Sort the visa out first, well before the e-Arrival window opens, so the last week before your trip is not spent waiting on two things at once.
よくある質問
Do Australians need the Cambodia e-Arrival Card?
Yes. Every Australian flying into Cambodia files an e-Arrival Card within the 7 days before landing, whatever visa they hold.
I already have my Cambodia eVisa. Do I still need the e-Arrival Card?
Yes. The eVisa gives you permission to enter; the e-Arrival Card is the arrival declaration Immigration scans when you land. Australians need both for every trip.
Is the e-Arrival Card the same as a visa?
No. It replaced the paper arrival, health and customs forms. It does not give you permission to enter Cambodia, so you still need a visa.
When can I file it from Australia?
Within the 7 days before your arrival date in Cambodia. Cambodia is behind Australian time, so filing a few days inside the window avoids being treated as too early.
Do my children need their own card?
Yes. Every traveller files their own card on their own passport. We file a card for every traveller in a party, babies included.
I visited Cambodia last year. Can I reuse my old card?
No. Each card is filed for one arrival date and flight, so a new trip needs a new card filed within 7 days of that arrival.
Do I need it if I enter Cambodia overland?
The card is designed for air arrivals. Travellers report paper forms at land crossings from Vietnam and Laos, and the Thailand border has been closed since 2025. Confirm the process before you travel.
