Cambodia Entry Requirements for Australians in 2026: Visa, e-Arrival Card and What to Expect at the Airport

Requirement 3: the Cambodia e-Arrival Card

The e-Arrival Card is the requirement many Australians do not know about until close to departure. In 2024 it replaced the paper immigration arrival card, health form and customs declaration with one online form. Every traveller flying into Cambodia files it, including those who already have a visa. It is not a visa itself, and it does not replace one.

It can only be submitted within the 7 days before you arrive. To complete it you need your passport, the flight that lands in Cambodia, your arrival airport, where you are staying, a short health and customs declaration, and two newer details: your departure date from Cambodia and your next destination. If you file with us and have not booked onward travel yet, you can say “not booked yet” and we will email you to add the details later.

Once submitted, the card produces a QR code. Save it somewhere you can reach without Wi-Fi: a screenshot on your phone and a printed copy in your passport wallet covers every situation.

We file the Cambodia e-Arrival Card for Australians and check every field against your passport before it is submitted. If you book early, we hold your details and file the moment the 7-day window opens, then email you the QR code.

Still unsure whether it applies to you? Our short answer on whether Australians need the Cambodia e-Arrival Card covers repeat visitors, dual citizens and visa-on-arrival travellers.

The order to do it in, counting back from your flight

1. 1
As soon as you start planning: check your passport

Confirm it has at least 6 months of validity from your arrival date and a blank page. Renew it first if it does not.

2. 2
At least 7–10 days before you fly: get the visa

Apply for the eVisa with time to spare. Approval takes 3–5 days, and an application sent at the weekend starts processing on the next Cambodian business day.

3. 3
2–4 days before you fly: file the e-Arrival Card

The form opens 7 days before your arrival date. File once your flights have stopped changing, for every traveller in your party.

4. 4
The night before: pack the paperwork together

Passport, printed eVisa and the e-Arrival QR code saved offline, all in one place for the flight.

One timing quirk for Australians: Cambodia runs three hours behind Sydney and Melbourne on standard time and one hour behind Perth, and your arrival date is a date in Cambodia. Filing on the very first evening the window seems open from Australia may be treated as a day too early, so leave a margin.

When your flights are fixed and the window is open, file your e-Arrival Card now and the QR code will be in your inbox before you head to the airport.

Getting there: airports, connections and land borders

Cambodia’s e-Arrival system lists three international airports: Techo International (KTI), which replaced Phnom Penh International (PNH) in September 2025, Siem Reap Angkor International (SAI) and Sihanoukville International (KOS). Many Australians connect through Singapore, Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur. On the e-Arrival Card, enter the flight that lands in Cambodia, not your first flight out of Australia.

If you were planning the overland Bangkok-to-Siem Reap route, note that the Thailand–Cambodia land border has been closed since 2025, so you will need to fly in instead. Travellers crossing from Vietnam or Laos have reported completing paper arrival forms at the border rather than the e-Arrival Card. Land and sea rules are less clearly published, so confirm the process for your crossing before you travel.

What to expect at the airport when you land

Arrival is simpler than it used to be, because the forms are done before you board. Have three things in your hand as you walk to Immigration: your passport, your visa and your e-Arrival QR code.

• Immigration scans your e-Arrival QR code and checks it alongside your passport and visa.
• Techo International has automated smart gates for eligible passports, and the official e-Arrival system lists Australian passports among them.
• Arriving visitors now receive a v-Pass by email, which replaces the ink stamp in the passport. Keep your QR code handy, as it is one way to retrieve the v-Pass.
• Your customs declaration was part of the e-Arrival Card, so there is no separate customs form to hand in.

If you notice a mistake on your card before you reach the desk, you can still edit and resubmit it, as long as Immigration has not yet processed you. Once you have been processed, it is too late to change.

Travelling as a family

Every person in your party travels on their own passport, so the paperwork is per person. We apply for a visa for each traveller, children included, and we file a card for every traveller in a party, babies included, because each one travels on their own passport. Collect everyone’s passports before you start and do them in one sitting.
