With your embassy visa secured, Siem Reap is the natural base — 3 to 4 days at Angkor Wat, Bayon and Ta Prohm — followed by Phnom Penh for the Royal Palace, National Museum and the riverside. Halal food is widely available in Phnom Penh's BKK1 district and around Boeung Kak in Siem Reap.

Currency
US dollars are accepted almost everywhere alongside Cambodian Riel. You do not need to exchange currency before flying — small change comes back in Riel.
Best time to visit
November to April (dry season). May to October brings monsoon rains — southern coastal regions are most affected. November to February is the sweet spot for Angkor Wat.
Connectivity
Buy a local SIM at Phnom Penh or Siem Reap airport ($2–3 USD). Most foreign phones work on GSM. Metfone and Smart are the recommended carriers — both have airport kiosks.
Health
No mandatory vaccinations. Hepatitis A and Typhoid are commonly recommended. Drink bottled water only — even in major hotels. Carry mosquito repellent for evening visits to temples.

Can Afghan citizens get a Cambodia eVisa or visa on arrival?
No — neither the eVisa nor visa on arrival is available to Afghan passport holders. You must apply for your Cambodia visa at the nearest Cambodian embassy before travelling. Afghanistan is on Cambodia's restricted list, so the embassy route is the only way to obtain a tourist or business visa.
How do Afghan citizens apply for a Cambodia visa?
Apply at the nearest Cambodian embassy before you travel — for Afghan nationals the practical missions are the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in New Delhi or the embassy in Bangkok, as there is no Cambodian post in Kabul. Submit your passport, one passport-style photo, the visa application form, a confirmed return or onward ticket and a hotel booking. The embassy issues a sticker visa in your passport before you fly.
