Departure Date and Next Destination on the Cambodia e-Arrival Card: A Guide for Americans

Two new questions about leaving Cambodia

Until recently, the Cambodia e-Arrival Card was almost entirely about getting in: who you are, which flight lands you in Cambodia, and where you are staying. In 2026 the form added two questions about getting out. It now asks for your departure date from Cambodia and your next destination, and both are required.

For a lot of Americans, those two questions are harder than they look. Few US travelers fly to Cambodia and straight back. Most connect through an Asian hub, many combine Cambodia with Vietnam, Laos or Thailand, and some arrive on a one-way ticket with the rest of the trip still open. This guide covers what to put in each case, and what to do if the answer is “I don’t know yet.”

If you are new to the card itself, our step-by-step guide on how to get the Cambodia e-Arrival Card walks through the whole form first.

What the two fields are asking

Read plainly, the questions are about your exit from Cambodia, not about the end of your whole vacation. The departure date is the day you leave Cambodia. The next destination is where that departure takes you. If you are going home to the United States from Phnom Penh or Siem Reap, the two answers describe your flight home. If Cambodia is the first stop on a longer trip, they describe the next leg.

Use the date as it appears on your booking for the day you leave, which is a date in Cambodia. Overnight and early-morning departures are where people slip: a flight that leaves Siem Reap at 1:00 a.m. on the 15th leaves on the 15th, even though you checked out of your hotel on the 14th.

What to enter for the trips Americans usually take

A round trip from the United States

You fly in from, say, Los Angeles via Seoul or Taipei, spend ten days in Cambodia, and fly home the same way. Your departure date is the day your return flight leaves Cambodia, and your next destination is the place that ticket takes you. Because almost every flight between the US and Cambodia connects somewhere, this is the one case where the answer can feel ambiguous; the form does not say whether it wants the connection or the final stop. Answer it the way your booking reads, and keep that booking handy at the airport.

A Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos loop

If you are flying into Cambodia first and then moving on to Vietnam or Laos, your next destination is that country, and your departure date is the day you leave Cambodia for it, by air or overland. Your flight home to the US from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City does not belong on the Cambodia card at all.

Remember that the Cambodia eVisa is single-entry. If the loop brings you back into Cambodia later, that is a second arrival with its own visa and its own e-Arrival Card, which our guide to re-entering Cambodia after Vietnam or Laos explains.
