Cambodia Visa Eligibility FAQ — Who Can Apply for an eVisa?
Citizens of 175 nationalities can apply for a Cambodia eVisa online. 9 ASEAN countries are visa-exempt. A handful of nationalities must apply at a Cambodian embassy. Here is who qualifies.
Am I eligible for a Cambodia eVisa?
Most travellers from 175 countries are eligible for the Cambodia eVisa. The fastest way to check is our eligibility tool — enter your nationality and get an instant answer plus the route (eVisa, visa on arrival, embassy, or exempt).
Which countries are eligible for the Cambodia eVisa?
Citizens of the US, UK, Australia, India, Canada, Germany, France, Japan, China, Brazil, and 165 other nationalities qualify. Browse the full list with per-country pricing and requirements on our countries page.
Citizens of 9 ASEAN nations are visa-exempt for stays up to 30 days: Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei, and Myanmar. They still need to complete the e-Arrival form.
Which countries need a Cambodian embassy visa?
A small number of nationalities — including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, and Sudan — must apply at a Cambodian embassy. The eVisa and visa-on-arrival are not available for these passports.
Can dual citizens apply for a Cambodia eVisa?
Yes — apply with whichever passport is most convenient and eligible. Use the same passport at check-in and Cambodian immigration; mixing passports causes name-match issues at the border.
Can refugees with travel documents apply for a Cambodia eVisa?
Refugee travel documents (1951 Convention or otherwise) and stateless travel documents are not currently accepted for the Cambodia eVisa. Contact the nearest Cambodian embassy directly to discuss embassy-route options.
Are people with criminal records eligible for Cambodia?
Minor offences are typically not a problem. Serious convictions (drugs, terrorism, sex offences, prior Cambodian immigration violations) can trigger entry denial at the border even with a valid eVisa. Disclose only if asked at the form stage.
Can I apply for a Cambodia eVisa with my child on my passport?
No. Children listed on a parent's passport (still happens in a few countries) need their own passport for the Cambodia eVisa. Cambodian immigration does not accept dependent entries — every traveller needs their own document.
Is there an age limit for Cambodia visa applicants?
No age limit. Infants, children, adults, and seniors all need their own Cambodia eVisa or e-Arrival. Pricing is the same regardless of age — no senior or child discounts on government fees.
Can I apply for a Cambodia visa from inside Cambodia?
No. eVisa applications must be made before entering Cambodia. If you are already inside on visa-exempt or visa-on-arrival status, you cannot retroactively apply for an eVisa — you would need to extend your existing status.
Are diplomats eligible for the Cambodia eVisa?
Diplomats typically use the diplomatic or official visa category, arranged via embassy, not the consumer eVisa. Diplomatic passport holders should contact the Cambodian embassy or their own foreign ministry for the correct route.
Can travellers in transit get a Cambodia visa?
Transit through Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, or Sihanoukville without leaving the international transit area does not require a Cambodia visa. If you exit the transit area, you need an eVisa or visa on arrival.
Do I need a Cambodia visa for a cruise ship stop?
Cruise passengers arriving at Sihanoukville port typically need a visa if disembarking. Cruise lines arrange group visas in many cases — check with your operator. Independent disembarkation requires your own eVisa.
Can my employer apply for my Cambodia business eVisa?
Your employer or HR team can pay for and initiate the application on your behalf, but every applicant's details (passport, photo, signature where required) must match the traveller. We accept third-party payment via our service.
What if my nationality is not on the eligibility list?
Contact the nearest Cambodian embassy directly for embassy-route options. A small number of nationalities require this path. We do not process embassy applications, but our country pages link to the relevant Cambodian missions.
